WP Ghost is tested and compatible with all major WordPress themes including Astra, GeneratePress, Avada, Divi, Blocksy, Flavor, and dozens more. This page lists the themes we’ve specifically tested. WP Ghost doesn’t physically modify any theme files, it uses rewrite rules that change how URLs are served to browsers, which means most themes work without any issues. If a theme you use isn’t listed here, it almost certainly works with WP Ghost. Compatibility issues are extremely rare with themes since themes don’t typically interact with WordPress paths the way plugins do.

All three WP Ghost security modes work with the themes below: Lite Mode (Free) is universally compatible, Safe Mode (Premium) is the recommended Premium default for complex themes with page builders or ecommerce integrations, and Ghost Mode (Premium) applies the tightest protection and may require brief testing with themes that hardcode admin-ajax.php paths.

Theme Compatibility Tips

Lite Mode (Free) is universally compatible. If you’re on WP Ghost Free and experience any issue with a theme, stay on Lite Mode, it changes the most commonly targeted paths while leaving wp-admin and admin-ajax.php at their defaults, ensuring compatibility with virtually every theme on the market.

Safe Mode (Premium) is the recommended Premium default. If you’re on WP Ghost Premium and experience a theme issue with Ghost Mode, switch to Safe Mode from WP Ghost > Change Paths > Level of Security. Safe Mode is engineered specifically for compatibility with complex themes, page builders, and ecommerce integrations, while still protecting wp-admin and admin-ajax.php. No settings are lost when switching modes. Only fall back to Lite Mode if the issue persists in Safe Mode and you need to isolate it.

Theme builder editors: Some theme builders (Divi Builder, Elementor, Bricks, Oxygen) load their editor through admin-ajax.php. If the editor doesn’t load after activating Ghost Mode, switch to Safe Mode (Premium) which uses more tested rewrite techniques for admin-ajax, or to Lite Mode (Free) which leaves admin-ajax.php at its default path entirely. Public site rendering is unaffected in any mode.

Custom theme paths: If your theme uses non-standard locations for assets, enable Theme Security path customization to ensure all theme files are accessible through the new paths. This works in all three security modes.

Theme detector verification: After activating WP Ghost, run a theme detector test to confirm your theme is hidden. See Hide from Theme Detectors for the complete verification checklist.

Theme not listed? WP Ghost works with virtually all WordPress themes since themes typically don’t interact with WordPress paths. The themes listed here are ones we’ve specifically tested. If you experience any issue with your theme, contact WP Ghost support and we’ll test it.

Frequently Asked Questions

My theme isn’t on this list. Will it work?

Almost certainly yes. WP Ghost has been tested with over 1,000 plugins and themes. Themes rarely conflict with WP Ghost because they don’t typically modify WordPress paths or interact with the login process. The themes listed here are ones we’ve specifically tested and verified, but the absence of your theme from this list doesn’t indicate any compatibility issue.

Will WP Ghost hide my theme from theme detectors?

Yes, when properly configured. Use Theme Path Security to change the theme directory path and individual theme names. Combine with the complete Hide from Theme Detectors checklist to pass detection tools like WhatWPThemeIsThat, BuiltWith, and WPThemeDetector. Theme path security works in all three WP Ghost modes (Lite, Safe, Ghost).

My theme uses a page builder. Will it still work?

Yes. WP Ghost is compatible with all major page builders. See the Page Builders section in the plugin compatibility list for the full list. If a builder editor doesn’t load after activating Ghost Mode, switch to Safe Mode (Premium, engineered for page builder compatibility) or Lite Mode (Free, leaves admin-ajax.php at its default entirely).

Which WP Ghost mode should I use with my theme?

Free users: Lite Mode is the only mode available in WP Ghost Free and it’s universally compatible with every theme on this list. Premium users: start with Safe Mode, it’s the recommended Premium default and is engineered for compatibility with complex multipurpose themes, page builders, and ecommerce themes. Move to Ghost Mode only after verifying your theme’s editor and public rendering both work in Safe Mode. You can switch between modes anytime from WP Ghost > Change Paths > Level of Security, no settings are lost.

Does WP Ghost modify theme files?

No. WP Ghost never modifies any theme files. All path changes use server rewrite rules that affect only how URLs are served to browsers. Your theme files remain exactly as they were. Deactivating WP Ghost restores all defaults instantly.
