Hide Admin Toolbar

What is the Admin Toolbar in WordPress?

The WordPress Admin Toolbar is a horizontal menu that appears at the top of your website when logged in. It provides quick access to essential WordPress features, such as adding new posts, managing comments, and accessing the dashboard.

While this is convenient for administrators and editors, it may not be suitable for certain types of websites where logged-in users should not have administrative visibility.

Why Hide the Admin Toolbar?

Hiding the Admin Toolbar can improve the user experience and security. Here are some scenarios where hiding it may be necessary:

  • Membership or Profile Sites: Users focused on content interaction should experience a clean interface without distractions.

When To Hide the Admin Toolbar?

  • Customer Sites: When logged-in users, such as subscribers or customers, don’t need backend access.
  • Simplified User Experience: To provide a more streamlined and user-friendly interface.
  • Multi-User Environments: Where only certain roles, such as administrators and editors, need toolbar access.
  • Security Approach: To limit visible clues about the WordPress environment.

How to Hide the Admin Toolbar with WP Ghost

Hiding the Admin Toolbar with WP Ghost is a quick and effective way to improve security and user experience. Whether you run an e-commerce site, a membership platform, or want to streamline user interfaces, this feature helps you control who sees the backend elements of your WordPress site.

Activate Hide the Admin Toolbar

WP Ghost gives you granular control over the user experience by customizing visibility based on roles.

  1. Go to WP Ghost > Tweaks > Hide Options.
  2. Switch on the Hide Admin Toolbar option to open the option to select the User roles for which you want to hide.
  3. From Select User Role, choose the user roles for which you want to hide the Admin Toolbar. Ensure at least one user role is selected.
  4. Click the Save button to apply the changes.

Default User Roles: WP Ghost automatically hides the Admin Toolbar for Subscribers and Customers when the feature is activated.

However, you can use the drop-down menu to select, add, and remove User Roles. (multiple User Roles can be selected)

Note that if you activate the Hide Admin Toolbar option, you must select at least one USER ROLE. If you don’t choose a user role, the plugin will use the default user roles.
