Kinsta is a premium managed WordPress hosting provider known for its high performance, advanced features, and ease of use. It is built on Google Cloud Platform’s cutting-edge infrastructure and offers fast, secure, and reliable hosting specifically tailored for WordPress websites.
For Kinsta NGINX Hosting, you need to be able to contact the host to add the hidemywp.conf
in the nginx.conf
file for your site.
We have customers who use WP Ghost with Kinsta hosting, but it does require you to contact support and for them to be willing to make the changes in the nginx.conf
file.
Set up the WP Ghost plugin on Kinsta server
Install and configure WP Ghost
After installing and setting up WP Ghost for your WordPress site the way you want, save the settings and follow the Nginx instructions from the notification.

Add Rewrite Rules on Kinsta
Go to the website root directory using File Manager and download the hidemywp.conf
file;

Open a support ticket with Kinsta’s support team and send them the hidemywp.conf
file to add the new paths to your website (your host will add the hidemywp.conf
file in the Nginx and restart the server);
Note! Only the host can add the rules from the config line in the Nginx and restart the Nginx server
Backup and Deactivate WP Ghost
Back up the settings in WP Ghost plugin from WP Ghost > Backup / Restore, and deactivate the plugin until Kinsta support adds the rules.
Activate and Restore WP Ghost
Once you get the reply that the rules have been added, activate the WP Ghost plugin and restore the saved settings from WP Ghost > Backup / Restore.
Run a Frontend Test
Verify the frontend and login pages to assure that the website loads correctly with the new paths.
