One of WP Ghost’s standout features is its ability to adapt to different server environments, ensuring both optimal performance and security. While WP Ghost automatically detects the server type your website is hosted on, manual selection is available in case of detection errors.

This tutorial explains when and how to select your server type manually in WP Ghost.

When To Use the Server Type?

WP Ghost’s automatic detection is highly accurate in most cases. It supports a wide range of server environments, including:

• IIS Windows
• Nginx
• LiteSpeed
• SiteGround
• CloudPanel
• Flywheel
• InMotion
• WP Engine
• AWS Bitnami
• GoDaddy

Manual Selection is Required When:

1. Detection Error: If the plugin fails to identify your server type correctly when saving the settings.
2. Compatibility Issues: If custom paths or rewrite rules are not functioning properly due to misconfigured server settings.

How To Use the Server Type

Note! If your hosting is not listed, it means no special configuration is required. The primary server types to choose from, in case WP Ghost does not detect it automatically, are Apache, Nginx, and IIS.

Detect Server Type

• Contact Hosting Provider: If unsure, ask your hosting provider to confirm your server type.
• Check Hosting Panel Documentation: Look for details about the server environment in the hosting panel.

Select Server Type

By customizing this parameter, you ensure that only trusted administrators or developers can utilize the Safe URL.

1. Go to WP Ghost > Advanced > Compatibility.
2. Select from Server Type the exact server your hosting provider is using for your website.
3. Click the Save button to apply the changes.
